On November 18th, a one-person exhibition of works by Olya Kundina, one of the participants in the Art-in-Progress project, was opened in the Rosenfeld gallery, Tel-Aviv. Curator: Zoya Cherkassky.
In my opinion, this exhibition proves without doubt that it is early to talk about “the end of painting”.
My first impression is that Olya’s paintings are characterized by an uncommon clarity and maturity of her working manner. She easily copes with any format, and she is able to reproduce any colors from fine pastel shades to loud ones.
The extrinsic motive of the majority of Olya’s paintings is exceptionally simple: it could be a pair of tin barrels or a store window. Everything is determined not by WHAT, but by HOW.
I would also like to note how well the exhibition is organized: the paintings do not overwhelm one another, as often happens, but complement one another.
It is always a pleasure to visit a good exhibition, but this one is especially distinguished by the painter’s genuine creativity and positive energy.
