Misha Shengelia lives in Tbilisi, Georgia. Here are some facts that we took from the wonderful text of Alexander Florensky about the artist:
• Misha was born in 1959. He studied geology in the local University, as one would expect from a son and a grandson of members of the Georgian Academy of Science.
• During many years he was painting without exhibiting or selling his works.
• In 1989 Misha began selling his paintings on the steps of the Main Post Office in Tbilisi.
• In 1993 he was “picked from the street” by the gallerist Baya Tcikoridze. Since then, he has exhibited in numerous art galleries in Georgia and abroad.
• Misha is a professional poker player, he won once a Georgian competition in Texas Holdem poker and is still a manager of a poker club.
• Misha’s works are being scattered all over the world, he does not photograph his paintings nor does he keeps a catalog.
